Wednesday Market Moves

Updated: Feb 9, 2019

Visualize a quaint European city where shoppers buy fresh organic vegetables on their afternoon trip home from work. Or a weekly town festival with quick access to a healthy meal after work and before your evening mountain bike ride. These visions may come to fruition in 2019.

The Gunnison Valley Producers’ Guild is working with the Gunnison Farmers’ Market Board to improve the Wednesday night market, which is entering its third year. If we build it, will they come?

Market visitors have told us they want prepared foods, easy parking, and lots of choices of food & produce vendor booths. We listened! We’ve secured the parking lot near Safeway on Tomichi Avenue, and are recruiting even more vendors. Calder Farms and Gunnison Gardens will continue as “anchors” for the Wednesday Market, bringing a fresh assortment of Gunnison-grown carrots, cucumbers, eggs, pork, lettuce, spinach, summer squash, radishes, and so much more throughout July and August.

If you have ideas for the Wednesday Market, or want to get involved, contact the GV Producers’ Guild using the button at the bottom of this page. In July, we’ll all be saying “Meet me at the Market!” .
